The Group Workshop

The workshop aims to equip participants with a keen awareness of the skills that they will develop through their coaching. The participants will practice these key skills under guidance and within collaborative, active-learning tasks.

We aim to encourage participants to join the global trend towards the use of Plain English. This is a style of writing which is reader-focused, simple, concise, precise and accurate.

By the end of this course, participants will be better able to:

•   analyze their task to:
     — identify a precise objective
     — understand what their reader needs in order to help them achieve this objective

•   organize information accordingly

•   design a text to:
     — highlight key points
     — guide their readers

•   write concisely by omitting redundant and clichéd writing such as Officialese, Gobbledygook,
    colloquialisms and local language interference

•   write clearly by using shorter sentences and simpler grammar structures

•   achieve impact through:
     — powerful paragraph and sentence structure
     — direct yet polite tone
     — precise yet familiar vocabulary

•   build relationships by managing sensitive messages with transparency, accountability
    and sincerity.
